Born in Bloomington Minnesota in 1968. Graduated Buffalo High School 1986. Studied at the Minneapolis College of Art and design. Graduated BFA from University of Minnesota. Has resided in Pennsylvania and Minnesota.

Artist Statement
Ted Thompson has been creating abstract paintings since 1987. He studied Fine Art at Minneapolis school of Art and Design and the college of University of Minnesota under the direction of Victor Caglioti. his work in oil and watercolor is primarily concerned with the relationship of properties of color.
My goal with painting is to create a emotional response in the viewer, similar to the emotions that nature produces in many people. that is, wonderment, awe and a sense of sublime. Painting, like nature, is completely unhuman, completely non metaphorical. We experience both on their own terms and struggle to understand and verbalize the power of each possess.
Painting has always been a method of bypassing metaphor to experience the universe in direct and pure manner.
